“Covington was not my toughest opponent” — Usman

UFC champion Kamaru Usman (19-1) spoke about his fight with Colby Covington (16-2).

“Everyone keeps saying that Covington was my toughest opponent. But no, it wasn’t. It just looked that way because of the way he and I stood and traded punches. But it happened that way because I decided to fight him that way myself.

I didn’t care about winning. I didn’t care what would happen. The reason the fight with Covington looked like that was because I decided to put everything aside and promised to hurt this man very badly.

So I wasn’t at all opposed to standing there and exchanging blows with him until one of us fell. And one of us ended up dying there,” Usman said.
